Ashby Camera Club has been welcoming and encouraging local photographers of all ages and abilities continuously since 1967 (more about our history here).
The Club aims to provide an environment where everyone can enjoy exploring their photography, share experiences, receive constructive advice and feedback and enjoy the company of like minded others, from all walks of life. The club has a buoyant membership and is always pleased to welcome new members. For further information go to the Contact Us page.
The club offers a 12 month programme, with meetings and outings are arranged throughout the year, to cater for diverse tastes and interests.
In winter, activities are indoors for a series of talks, demonstrations and practical evenings, always with a view to improving skills and gaining fresh insights and inspiration. The Club’s competition schedule runs throughout the winter season. It offers members the chance to pit their photographic skills against other members, as well as seeing their work competing in external competition against a number of other local clubs.
The summer programme offers outings to a variety of locations to allow members to test their skills. Venues for summer evening outings range from sporting events and historic buildings, to industrial sites and local nature reserves. Members often benefit from exclusive access to locations.
The Club often receives invitations to mount exhibitions in local venues giving all members an opportunity to showcase their work to a wider audience.
Events are arranged by the club’s committee, who are always keen to hear new ideas and suggestions for future activities.
Members use a wide variety of different types of camera, accessories and photo editing software. There’s always someone on hand to offer advice and share expertise – both about the cameras themselves and in the use of post processing software packages such as Photoshop Lightroom, Elements and Creative Suite – to allow everyone to make the most of their camera.
If you’ve an interest in photography and would like to improve your skills as part of a friendly and welcoming group, then please contact us using the 'Contact Us' page for more information, or just come along to one of our meetings or events.
Winter meetings (September – May) are usually held on Wednesday Evenings (except first Weds of the month) at Smisby Village Hall – 7.30 start. Details of summer meetings (places, time and cost if applicable) are circulated prior to each event. Please have a look through our club programme. You are welcome to attend up to 3 meetings before joining if you’d like to meet us before making a decision about becoming a member, so please do come along.
