Meet at Jubilee Gardens, Highcross Street, Leicester City Centre in time to start walk at 10.00am- plenty of parking in city centre car parks (all payment required) or park and ride. A figure of eight stroll along the Grand Union canal and River Soar through Leicester, which includes the National Space Centre, Abbey Park pumping station, Abbey Park (known as the city’s “Green Jewel). Belgrave Lock and Swans Nest Weir. Derelict buildings, street art and graffiti along the canal, Leicester City FC Murals, then along the straight mile towards the King Power Stadium, along the Great Central Way and into the fantastic new buildings of De Montfort University campus. The walk is a little over 5 miles, a coffee stop at “Peppercorns” in Abbey Park. At the end of the walk you can choose to linger in the City Centre for Lunch and other photographic opportunities. The Art Deco façade of the High Street upper stories, The Curve, Highcross Centre, the Lanes and of course the Guildhall and Richard III exhibition and grave.
